Judy Jackson, giovane cantautrice americana, ha davvero stregato il mondo del jazz con la sua voce piena di passione, di storie da raccontare, ricca di sfumature e inclinazioni che abbracciano un centinaio di anni di musica black. Pur non condividendo nessuna parentela con il mitico Michael Jackson, Judy ha goduto della stima di uno dei più grandi jazzisti contemporanei, il trombettista americano Wynton Marsalis. Di lei i critici scrivono che ricorda le indimenticabili lady del jazz, ma se la sua voce è senza tempo, le sue canzoni uniscono la moderna scena jazz londinese con le atmosfere più audaci del panorama neo-soul. “Grace”, il suo primo vero album, esce nel 2022 e seduce al primo ascolto per l’equilibrio tra il jazz-soul classico, quello delle grandi dive della black-music americana, e una interpretazione più contemporanea, a tratti semplicemente pop. “Grace” è un album che mette in mostra anche le doti di autrice di Jackson, che firma o co-firma tutte le quindici tracce del disco. 

Judi Jackson cast a spell over the world of jazz, her undoubted world-class talent earning her the accolade of Vocalist of the Year at the 2020 Jazz FM Awards. She grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, playing piano and singing in the church choir. Inspired by the greats - Bettie Carter, Billie Holiday - her career started to take shape in her teens. She was just 16 when she opened for Mavis Staples, and two years later, teamed with jazz fusionists Snarky Puppy to record her own song, ‘Only Love’, for their Grammy-winning album ‘Family Dinner: Volume One’. She later moved to London, where she channelled influences such as Joni Mitchell, Sade and Erykah Badu into her acclaimed EP ‘Blame It On My Youth’. In february 2022 Judi Jackson released her full-length debut album ‘Grace’ on vinyl and cd. Judi’s live show includes her own interpretations of songs from jazz greats such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone along with her original soul infused music to create an unforgettable performance.
